{"id":316,"date":"2017-08-08T07:28:45","date_gmt":"2017-08-08T07:28:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pineinstrument.com\/pineelectronics\/?p=316"},"modified":"2020-10-01T08:22:16","modified_gmt":"2020-10-01T08:22:16","slug":"doors-wide-open","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pineelectronics.com\/2017\/08\/08\/doors-wide-open\/","title":{"rendered":"Doors Wide Open"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"274\" height=\"184\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pineinstrument.com\/pineelectronics\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/10\/Concern.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-318\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.pineelectronics.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/10\/Concern.jpg 274w, https:\/\/www.pineelectronics.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/10\/Concern-194x130.jpg 194w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 274px) 100vw, 274px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Recruitment and retention of a skilled workforce plagues many companies today. &nbsp;Baby Boomers making a mass exodus into retirement while millennials not stepping up. &nbsp;Where does this leave companies heavily reliant upon its workforce to provide goods and services?&nbsp; &nbsp;If not now, soon, it will leave many in crisis mode.&nbsp; This is usually where the \u201cblame-game\u201d begins.&nbsp; The labor pool for certain skill sets is woefully low.&nbsp; Collectively, we all need to work together to address the impending issue.<\/p>\n<p>Kids have so many career paths for which to choose, it\u2019s almost overwhelming.&nbsp; High school administrators, teachers and guidance counselors often fail to understand what\u2019s really available for their students.&nbsp; It\u2019s not always clear which job opportunities require college educations, technical degrees or some other means of education.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>To bridge this gap, companies might consider inviting the schools (or at least the administration) into their facilities.&nbsp;&nbsp; Schools, in turn, may consider hosting employers in the classroom, the lunchroom, or even open periods\/study-halls.&nbsp; The traditional career fairs just aren\u2019t getting the job done.&nbsp; Students don\u2019t really understand what opportunities are available in their back yard, let alone across the country.<\/p>\n<p>A regional workforce development group in western Pennsylvania has recognized these issues and found ways to offer solutions.&nbsp; The&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wcjp.org\/\">Pennsylvania West Central Job Partnership<\/a>&nbsp;has successfully brought the two main stakeholders together to begin talking.&nbsp; Serving as a liaison and event facilitator, West Central Job Partnership and its partners have coordinated countless company tours.&nbsp; Students, teachers, administrators, and parents have visited many regional companies to learn the types of jobs and the respective education requirements.&nbsp; All due to the efforts of this small non-profit organization.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pineinstrument.com\/pineelectronics\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/10\/WCJP1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-319\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.pineelectronics.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/10\/WCJP1.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.pineelectronics.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/10\/WCJP1-195x130.jpg 195w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Pine Electronics, Inc. was one of several companies on this year\u2019s Principals Tour. Facility Tour Several high school superintendents and principals were witness to the various roles needed to run a manufacturer. From machinists, to assemblers, to engineering of all disciplines and customer service and technical reps, these administrators could see the entire picture. Without a few of the pieces, the puzzle is incomplete and the company\u2019s operation is weakened.<\/p>\n<p>It is critical for companies to find skilled workers\u2026.as is kids to understand the different career choices on which they may embark.&nbsp; Whether you\u2019re a parent, educator, employer, or student, get the conversation started.&nbsp; Find the people who can make it happen \u2013 tours, open-houses, etc.&nbsp; You will find that it\u2019s not that complicated.&nbsp; All it takes is a quick phone call, email or introduction to get the ball rolling.&nbsp; Truly, it\u2019s a win-win for all.&nbsp; But, it starts with YOU.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Recruitment and retention of a skilled workforce plagues many companies today.
